余纪元，1964年生，浙江诸暨人。美国布法罗纽约州立大学哲学系教授、古典学系兼职教授，中国人民大学讲座教授，山东大学讲座教授、兼职博士生导师，国际中国哲学学会主席。曾任英国牛津大学Wolfson学院及中国研究所研究员（1994-1997）、美国国家人文学科学中心研究员（2003-2004）。曾获布法罗纽约州立大学教育优秀奖、杰出学者奖。主要研究领域为古希腊哲学、中国古代哲学。近著有The Structure of Beingin Aristotle's Metaphysics（2003），The Ethic of Confucius and Aristotle： Mirrors of Virtue（2007），《（理想国）讲演录》（2008），《亚里士多德伦理学》（2011）等。
